Kenya Power reported profit after tax of KSh24.99 billion for the 2025/26 financial year on 18 September 2026, compared with KSh24.4 billion a year earlier. The company described the increase as 2.13% and attributed performance mainly to higher electricity revenue and lower financing costs. Electricity revenue rose by KSh18.96 billion to KSh238.24 billion. Sales increased from 11,403 GWh to 12,777 GWh, with the release’s highlights reporting growth of 12.05% and its narrative rounding this to 12%. The company connected 411,710 new customers and said demand increased across customer categories. Reported distribution and transmission efficiency improved from 78.79% to 81.42%. Kenya Power also cited revenue-protection initiatives as a contributor to sales performance. These are the utility’s explanations of its results, not an independent assessment of operational improvements. Finance costs fell by KSh1.64 billion to KSh3.08 billion, with the highlights stating a 34.68% reduction. The company linked the decline principally to lower interest expenses following reductions in outstanding loans. Total assets increased by KSh32.45 billion to KSh421.49 billion, alongside capital expenditure of KSh28 billion. Working capital moved from negative KSh19.21 billion at 30 June 2025 to positive KSh1.90 billion, an improvement of KSh21.11 billion. The board recommended a final dividend of KSh1.20 per ordinary share, bringing the stated total to KSh1.50. Nexus analysis: The results indicate stronger reported liquidity and investment capacity, but do not by themselves prove improved customer reliability. Grid automation, smart metering, digital services and further network investment remain management priorities. The final dividend is a recommendation, not evidence of payment. Source-reported percentage figures are retained rather than silently recalculated.
