Congo Terminal said on October 21 that it had completed structural works on a refrigerated-container park at Môle Est, Pointe-Noire port’s new platform. The installation comprises 24 gantries and 1,680 electrical connections for refrigerated containers. According to the operator, the addition raises total connection capacity from 1,869 to 3,549, an increase of about 90%. These connections supply the electricity needed to keep chilled and frozen cargo at the required temperature while containers await onward shipment. Operations director Emmanuel Addo said the investment responds to changing regional demand for frozen and perishable products. The company describes the park as supporting continuity in the cold chain, but has not announced a commercial-service date, investment value or current refrigerated-container volumes. Completion of structural works does not establish that all new connections are operating. An Africa Global Logistics subsidiary, Congo Terminal exclusively handles container ships and roll-on/roll-off vessels at Pointe-Noire. It reports handling more than one million TEU annually since 2022 and employing nearly 900 Congolese staff. The company operates under a public-private partnership and says its facilities serve shipping lines as well as importers and exporters. Its reported annual throughput is measured in twenty-foot equivalent units, covering containers generally; it is not a count of refrigerated boxes. The operator also cites ISO quality and environmental certifications and a Navis 4 terminal operating system. Those details describe its broader operation, rather than proving the new park's commercial readiness. Brazzaville Insider's account relies on the company's assessment of rising frozen-product trade, without independent demand figures. Nexus analysis: Additional electrical connections could expand cold-chain handling capacity, but structural completion and available plugs should not be equated with cargo growth, reliable utilization or lower consumer prices.
